Challenge

Greenleaf designs, builds, and maintains gardens — one team, start to finish — but its old website made it look like a mowing service: a phone number and a list of lawn care tasks. Founder Tom Beckett, a horticulturist, wanted the site to convey the design-led philosophy (native planting, natural materials, gardens that mature beautifully) while still capturing the maintenance-plan customers who provide recurring revenue.

Approach

We created a nature-organic language: warm cream backgrounds, moss green accents, Fraunces headlines with italic emphasis, and real photography of actual Greenleaf gardens. The copy leads with philosophy — "plant for the place, not the picture" — and backs it with specifics: native and pollinator-friendly planting, no plastic grass ever, employed craftsmen rather than day-rate labor. Services are split clearly between design/build and ongoing care, and a seasonal maintenance section (spring through winter) shows the year-round value of a plan. The four-step process ends with "care," reinforcing the long-term relationship.

Design highlights

The full-bleed photographic hero uses a bottom-weighted gradient so the headline "Gardens that grow more beautiful every year" reads over the garden image, with trust tags (native planting, water-wise, wildlife friendly) as glass chips. Six service cards use nature-gradient headers with emoji icons. The portfolio shows two named gardens with category labels. The dark-green seasonal section presents the gardening year as four cards, and the photographic CTA panel layers the headline over a patio image with a dark overlay.

Outcome

The site now attracts both audiences: design clients who buy into the philosophy and maintenance clients who see the seasonal structure. The "one team" message differentiates Greenleaf from designers who hand off to builders, and the portfolio — real gardens in real seasons — builds credibility that stock photography never could. It's a website that grows on you, like the gardens it sells.

Greenleaf Landscaping is a fictional brand created by WebStackRank to demonstrate a landscaping website concept. It is a design concept, not a client project.
