Challenge

Little Acorns’ parents choose with their hearts, but the old site spoke to their spreadsheets: curriculum PDFs and fee tables. The challenge was to design warmth you can feel through a screen — sunny, rounded and genuinely joyful — while still answering the practical questions (ratios, settling-in, hours) that decide tours.

Nursery websites also tend to photograph empty rooms, which tells parents nothing. The old site showed spaces; the redesign had to show life — or at least imply it convincingly through named places and moments.

Approach

We designed a playful-pastel experience in warm cream with sunny yellow and mint accents, set in Baloo 2 and Nunito. The hero pairs the headline — "Where little minds grow big" — with a sun, clouds and an ages-and-stages card. Program cards use multicolor icon chips; the showcase names real places (the Garden Classroom, Story Corner, the Art Wall); and the join process is framed as gentle settling-in "for children and parents." Testimonials are pure parent emotion.

We also wrote for two audiences at once: the child (joy, mess, dragons) and the parent (ratios, settling-in, photo updates). Each section gives both something to hold onto.

Design highlights

Highlights include the sunny hero with cloud shapes and an ages card, multicolor service cards with soft hover tilts, gradient "day here" showcase cards, and numbered pastel process steps. The CTA — "The kettle’s on. Come and see." — is the warmest call-to-action in the portfolio, and deliberately so.

The sun and clouds are doing emotional labour: they make the page feel like a good morning. Multicolor icon chips keep the palette playful without descending into rainbow chaos.

Outcome

The site now books tours the way the nursery wins hearts: warmly. Parents arrive already picturing their child in the garden classroom, settling-in anxieties are answered upfront, and the brand feels like the hug it promises to be.

Parents now arrive at tours already picturing their child in the garden classroom. Settling-in anxieties surface earlier — and get answered sooner.
