PrintWorks — Commercial Printer Website
Swiss-grid CMYK site for PrintWorks printers — color-chip hero, bordered service grid and a quote flow for print buyers who care about color.
Challenge
PrintWorks competes on the two things print buyers actually care about — color accuracy and deadlines — but its old site showed neither: a price list and a contact form. The challenge was to make craftsmanship visible in a digital medium, and to turn "send us your files" from a chore into a confident first step.
Print buyers’ deepest fear is the reprint: wrong color, wrong stock, missed deadline. The old site never addressed it. The redesign had to make quality control visible and visceral.
Approach
We designed a swiss-grid system in white with CMYK chip accents and Archivo throughout. The hero’s product visual is a color-check card — four plates locked, proof signed off — which tells the whole quality story at a glance. The trust bar quantifies the operation (48-hour digital turnaround, FSC stocks); services cover the full capability range; and the process band is built around the proof-approval moment that de-risks every order.
We also built the page around the proof moment — the single step that de-risks every order. "Nothing prints unapproved" appears in the process, the trust signals and the CTA copy.
Design highlights
Highlights include the CMYK plate-status hero card, the bordered capability grid with index numbers, gradient press-job showcase cards, and outlined-numeral process steps. Copy speaks buyer language throughout — "your blacks stay black" — and testimonials name the disasters that were prevented.
The CMYK plate-status card is the site’s signature: four plates locked, proof signed off. It turns an abstract promise (color management) into something you can see.
Outcome
The site now sells like the firm’s best estimator: knowledgeable, precise and reassuring. Quote requests arrive with better specs, the proof workflow is understood upfront, and color — the differentiator — is visible in every section.
Quote requests now arrive with files attached and specs stated — buyers who’ve read the process page. The estimators spend less time educating and more time quoting.
