Challenge

Ocean Catch is a Charleston harbor-side restaurant with a four-generation fishing family behind it, but its website was generic seafood-template fare that could have been anywhere. The restaurant needed a site that felt like the Lowcountry: bright, airy, salt-tinged, and honest about where the fish comes from. It also had to do practical work — explain the day-boat model, sell the raw bar and harbor patio, and fill sunset tables. The design had to be coastal without being kitschy.

Approach

We built an editorial coastal site: clean white-blue backgrounds, deep-sea navy sections, coral accents, Fraunces serif headlines, and bright natural-light photography of the seafood platters and the sunlit dining room. The "boat to plate in under twelve hours" story becomes the narrative spine, told in a four-step timeline. The catch section presents signatures with emoji-led swatches and honest tags (Day-Boat, Lowcountry Classic). The Beaumont family story — shrimping since the 1950s — gives the sourcing claims a human face. The raw bar and harbor patio get their own moments in the experience section, because they're distinct reasons to visit — not footnotes.

Design highlights

The hero pairs bright seafood-platter photography with an oversized serif headline and coral italic accent, backed by dual CTAs. The deep-sea "catch" section inverts the palette for drama, with signature dishes on navy cards. The family story section uses the dining-room photograph with the chef's signature. The four-step day (Dawn, Select, Prep, Serve) makes the supply chain tangible, and the gradient CTA ("The tide's in. Come hungry.") closes with coastal voice. Coral is used consistently as the warmth against the sea-blues.

Outcome

The site feels like the restaurant on a good day: bright, honest, and full of salt air. Visitors understand the day-boat difference, meet the family behind it, and can picture the sunset patio — which is what fills tables. It's a coastal restaurant site with genuine provenance, not just a beachy color scheme.
